Medico-legal assessment

• The Wellington Hospital Hand Unit is staffed by clinical specialists in hand therapy who are also trained in the production of medico-legal reports. Therapists are trained in report writing and court attendance. Referrals are taken from solicitors and a full report can be provided.
• Reports offer expert opinion and reasoning on the effects on work, personal, domestic, travel and leisure activities including range of motion, grip, strength and endurance, cosmesis, function, pain, dexterity and sensation. Ability to carry out work, leisure and home activities can be assessed using the Primus RS work simulator.
• Claimant and defence work is undertaken as well as action as a single joint expert. Legally aided clients are welcome.
